Interact-TV offers end-to-end Solution for OEMs, VARs and System Integrators
Interact-TV (OTC: ITVI), a leading developer ofLinux-based Home Entertainment Servers has announced the release of a complete OEM solution for white-box builders, VARs, System Integrators and Resellers who wish to offer a full line of Home Entertainment Servers and Multimedia Playback Units.
The suite of products offered is based on the popular Telly Home Entertainment Server® product line. The Telly product line was built from the ground up using EOS™ (Entertainment Operating System), a full-featured, customized Linux-based development platform designed to enable simple off-the-shelf hardware to operate as state-of-the-art Media Servers and Clients. EOS has been developed by Interact TV over the past 5 years.
There are several variations of the EOS development platform offered including a Media Server, a Multimedia Network Playback Unit, a Web-Pad Control Unit as well as full Project Consultancy, Support and Certification Services.
“As Media Servers and Network Media Adaptors become increasingly popular, the market is reaching a point where these products will be sold in the millions of units,” said Ken Fuhrman, Founder and CEO of Interact-TV. “All it will take to lower prices to the mass-market level is for the large Systems Builders in the US and Asia to release products which will then compete on the shelves of Circuit City, Best Buy and the likes. EOS and our Consultancy, Support and Certification Services allow systems builders and marketers to go to market quickly and remove the high cost of developing their own software”.
In addition to the elimination of the need for extensive application development, Interact-TV’s EOS ready-made end-to-end solutions are provided at very attractive price points and provide the ease and comfort of interfacing with a single vendor. No other middleware or software licenses are required to deliver a complete ready-to-market product.
Interact-TV will work with the system builders to port and/or develop any drivers necessary to support the specific hardware platform selected. Customization development can be done by Interact-TV alone or by the systems integrator or both and it can be done on standard PC platforms. In addition, the EOS APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) will be made available to the customer’s developers or third party developers.
Interact-TV has years of research and development specifically in this market and in working with both large and small companies, from Hewlett Packard to RQ Interactive, on a range of reference designs. During this time, Interact-TV gained the knowledge and understanding to become an authority on the issues surrounding software development and the integration of hardware elements to serve digital media.
“All-in-all, this provides a one-stop-shopping, dealing with one single provider who will consult with systems builders to make sure they are up and running and putting a product on the retail distribution channel in a remarkably fast time. They can even catch this year’s Christmas shopping season, placing product on the shelf as fast as they can decide on which chassis to use,” said Chris Cladis, Director of Business Development for Interact-TV. “Media Servers are a hot item now because they provide the ease and convenience of loading all of a household’s scattered multimedia onto a single device and then share the entire media collection throughout the house at the touch of a button. No more looking for that DVD or CD or family photo all over the place. Consumers have waited a long time for something like this, and now, buying and operating a Media Server and Media Playback units all over the house is not only simple but also very affordable.”
Interact-TV will also work with customers on localization issues for overseas markets as well as interfacing with other peripherals such as ones used for home automation, lighting, climate control, home maintenance and others.
